New York Grand Hyatt employee sues for sexual harassment

Imagine having to go to work every day fearing that you will be the target of harassment. You worry about being touched inappropriately by co-workers who have threatened to physically harm you if you report the behavior. Even though your employer has not done anything to help you, you can't quit because you need the money to support your family.

Target sued for racial discrimination

When you get hired to work for a company in New York, you expect that you have been chosen because you are qualified for the job. Once you begin working, you expect that you will be treated fairly and with respect. As we have discussed in past posts, however, not all employers treat their employees well. Unfortunately, employee discrimination is a widespread problem that occurs across the country.

New York legislators hope to ban religious discrimination at work

The United States was founded on the cornerstone of freedom. We are given the freedom to live our lives how we choose. We can say what we think without fear of retaliation from our governments, and we are afforded the freedom to express ourselves however we want. Despite the fact that we are afforded these rights, some employers continue to restrict them, making some people chose between earning a living and being who they are.

Spa employee fired for refusing to be waxed for training

When New York residents are hired by a company, they expect the first days or more of their job to involve training. Training usually involves learning about your company, the product or service you work with and then practicing until you have a good understanding of the work. Recently, however, one employee was taken off guard and ultimately offended by the training her new employer tried to get her to participate in.

NY employer refused to accommodate woman who donated a kidney

Imagine putting your own health on the line for your boss. Would you even do it? Many people wouldn't, but one New York woman felt compelled to help her boss, who was in need of a kidney transplant. If the woman donated a kidney to someone else, her boss would move closer to the top of the transplant list. The woman selflessly chose to help, but returned to work to face everything but gratitude.
