Wal-Mart under fire for wrongful termination claims

Retail giant Wal-Mart is under fire after the National Labor Relations Board filed a complaint stating that the company unlawfully disciplined and fired workers after they participated in nationwide protests and strikes seeking higher wages. Some of the protests against Wal-Mart were held in New York on the last two Black Fridays, which is generally considered the busiest retail day of the year.

Stewart's Shops allegedly violated employee rights

Despite being one-third employee-owned, the convenience store chain Stewart's Shops is being sued by a group of unhappy employees. According to the class action lawsuit filed in Albany, the company violated the federal Fair Labor Standards Act by failing to compensate thousands of workers for work they rendered.

Assemblyman's "sexy elf" request leads to sexual harassment case

Dennis Gabryszak, a New York state assemblyman, is facing yet another sexual harassment lawsuit after a former staff member accused him of asking female staff members to wear sexy elf costumes. She alleged in her sexual harassment claim that he also made inappropriate comments about how she might look in the outfit.

KFC settles discrimination lawsuit for $40,000

A local franchisee for a well-known fast food chain has recently settled a case based on alleged religious discrimination for $40,000 after a woman in New Jersey sued her local employer for wrongful termination after she refused to wear pants.
